Hopelessful Monday
(photo of a card I made in 2009)
Hope deferred makes the heart sick,
but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life. Proverbs 13:12
There are so many "deferred longings" in my life, it's a miracle my heart hasn't stopped beating.
HOPE: (v) to cherish a desire with anticipation
The image of a "longing fulfilled" metaphorically described as a tree of life, brings to mind a seed, dead and buried in the ground bursting to the sky! A tiny seed bringing forth a massive, breathtakingly beautiful organism capable of producing oxygen for the earth, shade for people, home for the birds of the air and creatures like squirrels. Maybe this longing fulfilled will be for the benefit of the world and not only for the hopeful one.
HOPE: to desire with expectation of obtainment; to expect with confidence
Do you ever wonder what it would be like to Hope without reservation? To know and trust completely that your desire will be accomplished? Imagine having the assurance that the desires of your heart, good ones- not of evil intent- are going to be granted. There would be no crying in sorrow, no despairing of circumstances that indicate everything BUT your desires coming true.
HOPE: desire accompanied by expectation of or belief in fulfillment
The doubt that creeps in when you are not looking is the hardest to bear. You turn your eyes from the hope for a second and suddenly the lights go out. Nothing will ever change.
HOPE: someone or something on which hopes are centered
Show me your ways, O Lord,
teach me your paths;
guide me in your truth and teach me,
for you are God my Savior,
and my hope is in you all day long. (Psalm 25:4-5)
Mondays are only constructed measurements of time. Depending on the season of life, the Seasons, one's mood, circumstances, Fridays could be hell while Monday glows in innocence. The key is, to continue walking forward in hope.
